Justice Department Opens Antitrust Review of Big Tech Companies

“Without the discipline of meaningful market-based competition, digital platforms may act in ways that are not responsive to consumer demands.”

In another word, #pricefixing #marketallocation is just a profitable way to steer consumers into #paytoplay schemes. The fallout from this will forever change the way the Internet presently works, specifically #gigeconomy.

In my competitive circle, residential real estate marketplace, raked price fixing schemes such as Redfin Opendoor Open Listings and now Amazon will also be on the hook to explain exactly how and why prices are set for independent real estate agents and contractors in an exchange for the cut of the revenue.

As usual, “a defendant is allowed to argue that there was no agreement, but if the government or a private party proves a plain price-fixing agreement, there is no defense to it.”

Question is: why price-fix services of others against the law, instead of building a competitive marketplace with on the basis of #networkeffects. Greed? Laziness? Probably both. #BigTech #BigFive #antitrust
